Position Details
Title: Distribution Operator
Location: Freeport, TX
Salary: $26.15 - $29.61/hour
Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts, 5-8's
Focus:
This position ensures a safe and reliable operation of a complex/heavily regulated chemical production plant by following operating disciplines, procedures, and work processes in a team environment. Candidates will be hired to work in a variety of operator/technician roles across the plant depending on current availability. These plant roles may include: Distribution Operator.
Distribution Operator Essential Functions:
• Load/unload product, monitor tank levels and flow rates, and operate mechanical equipment
• Perform operational tasks including field checks, equipment prep, permitting, minor maintenance, and general area housekeeping
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues and support maintenance, start-ups, and shutdowns for operational reliability and efficiency
• Conduct inspections per Olin standards and regulatory compliance (safety, DOT, quality), and prioritize safety and environmental stewardship, report near misses/incidents, assist in root cause investigations and perform Immediate Response activities
• Errors may result in severe consequences due to hazardous materials and complex equipment
Distribution Operator Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two years of work experience (24 months of full-time work at time of application)
• Ability to demonstrate mechanical reasoning, spatial reasoning, and behavioral measures identified as important for the role
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card
• Possess a valid U.S. Driver's license
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
• Associate's degree* in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical or Computer Technology
• Production, maintenance, and/or distribution related experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Relevant military experience with a technical specialty
• Prior Olin experience in a related position
Work Conditions and Physical Demand Requirements:
• Ability to work the schedule(s) specified above as well as overtime, holidays, and weekend as required
• Ability to be serve in the emergency response/rescue team and respond to HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) with OSHA training
• Ability to pass drug screen and background check if offer is received and accepted
• Ability to pass a functional physical test, with or without reasonable accommodations, if offer is received and accepted
• Use standard safety equipment and wear all required personal protective equipment including in extreme hot/cold environments
• Work in confined, tight, or closed-in spaces
• Climb ladders and stairs through multiple levels, work at heights,
• Lift hoses, bolt flanges, operate valves and similar equipment as part of a normal job
• Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• For Cell Room/Valve Operators: work in strong electromagnetic field

Position Details
Purpose and Scope:
Amentum is seeking a Water & Waste Mechanic to independently operate, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair Wastewater Treatment Plants and Water Distribution Systems, and the mechanical equipment associated with sewage collection and processing systems. Start and stop pumps, motors, engines, etc. to control and regulate the flow of sewage through the processing phases. Monitor and control the physical and chemical characteristic of the water and waste being treated so that potable water or W/W plant effluents meet the standards for quality established by Federal, State, and local health authorities.
Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
• Calibrate W/W plant instrumentation and systems controls using electronic, mechanical, chemical, and electrical test equipment.
• Operate engines and equipment that drive water pumps, as required.
• Assist in the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of plumbing systems, such as water, drain lines, sprinkler systems, etc.
• Assist in the rebuilding, modifying, and testing of plumbing systems.
• Maintains and uses specialized tools and equipment in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Work with verbal information, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications, instruction bulletins and applicable National, State, and municipal specifications, codes and ordinances.
• Maintain logs, charts, and records, as required.
• Sample and analyze water and treat, as required.
• Perform minor insulation with prefabricated mineral insulating materials, bindings, plastic, cement, etc., as required.
• Inspect, maintain, or repair special tools, jigs, fittings, and instruments assigned.
• May operate gas welding equipment to perform cutting, burning, and soldering, as necessary, to accomplish work assignment.
• Add chemicals, such as ammonia or chlorine, to disinfect water or other liquids.
• Inspect equipment on a regular basis.
• Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges.
• Collect and test water and sewage samples.
• Record meter and gauge readings and operational data
• Operate equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of sewage.
• Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas.
• Ability to operate and service various rotating equipment.
• Maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks.
• Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
• Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification.
• Perform work in other classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish work assignment.
• Performs duties in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws and regulations and requirements and KSC/CCAFS energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.
• Perform or assist with any departmental operations, under direction, to maintain workflow.
• Maintain security clearance, area permit(s), licenses, certifications, etc. required for performance of assigned tasks.
• Performs other related and/or associated duties as required.

Qualifications/Experience/Certifications:
• High school diploma/GED and a recognized apprenticeship training program plus 2 years of experience OR Military or Civilian vocational training plus 2 years of experience OR 5 years of direct work-related skills, knowledge, and experience in water and wastewater treatment
• Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Class B CDL within one year of employment.
• Must possess a Florida Class “C” (or higher) Water Treatment operator license in accordance with FAC 62-602, Water or Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Distribution System Operators.
• Must be able to pass applicable medical certification.
• Able to interact with customers and coworkers in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have working knowledge of computers and work-related computer programs associated with the position.
• Must possess demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical drawings and possess ability to work safely on both energized and de-energized equipment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain job related Licenses, Certifications etc. required by Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force standards, rules, and regulations.
• Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Demonstrate effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications.
• Must possess general knowledge of office routines to include scheduling, general office administration, and a working knowledge of standard computer software.
• Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office, knowledge of MAXIMO desired.
• Strong customer service and partnership with the business units within the organization.
• Water Distribution/Water Treatment Collection Certifications and Water Treatment certification(s) preferred.
