Lecturer in the Drama Department
Job Description
The Drama Department invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
Requirements- A completed MA or PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies with an emphasis on Directing or Theatre Making.
- For candidates with an MA: Candidates will be expected to either complete or make reasonable progress in line with the targets and timeframes agreed with the HoD during their probation period, should they be appointed.
- Evidence of teaching experience is required.
- A professional artist portfolio demonstrating a minimum of three years' experience.
- An ability to teach in the following disciplinary areas: Voice, Acting, Directing, Theory of Theatre and Performance studies.
- An ability to supervise postgraduate students is required.
- Some evidence and experience in conducting research. Evidence of creative outputs would be an advantage.
- Some record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).
- A comprehensive CV and relevant qualifications which should include the following:
- Reasons for leaving your current and previous jobs.
- Referees who are and/or were your direct line manager, their title, name, designation and contact information which should be at least their contact number and email address.
- Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R667,972.00
- Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R872,722.00
This post is advertised as a permanent post, but the University may appoint on a fixed-term contract of not less than three years. The University reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of the post. Employment checks will be conducted on recommended candidates.
