Red Ember Recruitment is seeking a Qualified Social Auxiliary Worker based in Helderberg to play a key role in supporting and uplifting community-based programmes for older people. This opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and driven individual who is highly organised, proactive, and confident in engaging with diverse stakeholders, while managing both programme delivery and administrative responsibilities effectively.
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of programme activities for older people.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and administrative systems relevant to the department.
- Support the planning and facilitation of training sessions, as guided by the Community Development Officer / Social Worker.
- Drive and monitor attendance levels at service centres, ensuring consistent engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders and district partners.
- Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in managing a structured and active volunteer base.
- Provide support with social work-related tasks and interventions.
- Ensure effective resource management within programmes.
- Complete all reporting and administrative duties accurately and within required timeframes.
- Certificate in Auxiliary Social Work / Community Development or similar.
- Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- 2 - 5 years' experience in social fieldwork.
- Minimum 2 years' practical experience working with older persons.
- Experience in community development or related environments.
- Valid Code 8 driver's license and own reliable vehicle.
- Bilingual (English & Afrikaans) with strong public speaking ability.
- Strong empathy and understanding of the developmental needs of mature adults.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels.
- Proven administrative and organisational abilities.
- Effective project coordination and planning skills.
- Ability to lead initiatives and demonstrate team leadership qualities.
- High level of professionalism and personal presentation.
- Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving ability.
