Role: SENIOR OPERATIONS LEAD: INVENTORY AND OPTIMISATION Role Overview The Senior Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations of the warehouse, ensuring seamless integration with other business functions. This role goes beyond traditional warehouse management, encompassing health and safety, people management, budget control, inventory management, customer service, process optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Assistant Operations Manager leads the team to deliver optimal service in line with good warehouse and logistics practices, supporting the company's strategic goals. Key Responsibilities - Support the Operations Manager in overseeing warehouse and operational activities in line with ISO standards, company policies, and Health & Safety requirements.- Manage inventory control, stock movement, storage optimisation, and replenishment processes to ensure stock accuracy, operational efficiency, and timely delivery.- Maintain accurate SAP/WMS inventory records through regular cycle counts, audits, reconciliations, and stock investigations.- Ensure proper storage, handling, expiry management, and write-off processes in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.- Design, implement, and continuously improve warehouse processes aligned to operational strategy and best practices.- Monitor operational KPIs and ensure compliance with warehousing legislation, SOPs, and inventory control standards.- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, security, and environmental compliance across warehouse operations.- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, ISO standards, and legislative requirements through regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.- Ensure safety checklists, incident reporting, CAPA processes, and corrective actions are completed effectively and timeously.- Ensure employees are adequately trained, equipped, and compliant with operational and safety procedures.- Coordinate stock transfers between warehouse locations, customers, and sales teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.- Monitor inventory losses, consignment discrepancies, expired stock, and stock write-offs, implementing corrective actions where required.- Support budget management, cost control initiatives, and operational expense monitoring to achieve financial objectives.- Ensure accurate reporting and management of warehouse assets, pallet capacity, and storage utilisation.- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse employees to achieve operational and performance objectives.- Manage workforce planning, task allocation, attendance, productivity, and performance management processes.- Conduct regular performance discussions, coaching sessions, and formal performance reviews.- Collaborate with HR on employee development, training, succession planning, and employee relations matters.- Act as the operational point of contact for customers, suppliers, transport providers, and internal stakeholders.- Maintain strong cross-functional relationships to support operational effectiveness and service delivery.- Monitor and improve customer service levels, turnaround times, and operational responsiveness.- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, inventory optimisation, and service quality.- Analyse operational and inventory data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.- Investigate root causes, CAPA deviations, and operational challenges, implementing corrective actions where required.- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational, inventory, safety, and KPI reports to management.- Provide operational insights and recommendations to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience Qualifications - Minimum (required): Matric Certificate- Preferred (desirable): Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. Experience - Minimum (required): 5 - 8 years of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain Management within the Medical Industry.- Preferred (desirable): expertise in Operations management procedure and best practices.- Proven experience in operations, warehouse, or supply chain management roles.- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.- Knowledge of ISO standards and regulatory compliance requirements. Competencies - In-depth understanding of inventory management and supply chain principles- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance standards- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills- Ability to drive process improvements and manage change effectively- Strong leadership and people management skills- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Job Location: Cape Town
