Welding Technology Lab Assistant (Continuous Recruitment)

This position is responsible for assisting instructors and students in the welding lab. The purpose of a continuous recruitment posting is to build a pool of interested applicants to support the program as enrollment increases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintaining supplies and equipment for the laboratories and stock rooms.
- Assisting faculty with the preparation and administration of student assignments.
- Maintaining inventory in supply cribs and generating supply orders for the Director and/or Lead Instructor.
- Assisting in the development and enforcement of safety practices in the instructional laboratories.
- Preparing materials and machinery for lab exercises.
- Performing other job specific duties as assigned by the Director or Lead Instructor.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
General Qualifications
- Ability to write using proper grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to apply and understand standard mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and other mathematical functions as needed.
- Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and the philosophy of the community college system.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and proficiency with manual and semi automatic welding equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of safety procedures related to welding, cutting, and brazing.
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, fingers, and arms; reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Required to wear eye protection and other PPE as needed; noise level may require ear protection.
