ROLE SUMMARY The incumbent will be required to act as the Academic Coordinator and Advisor as well as a Strategic Education Consultant for the Netcare Education's Faculty of Emergency and Critical Care (FECC) across all campuses. The Academic Head is accountable for the leadership of the broad academic function and for the sustainable academic performance of Netcare sites, ensuring alignment to the Netcare values and fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment. The primary role of the academic head is to provide academic leadership for the HPCSA programmes offered at the Netcare Education FECC. The academic head is required to lead, manage and develop the HPCSA programmes to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence across the HPCSA programmes. The Academic Head will also take the lead in developing future HPCSA programmes. KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION Operational efficiency To lead and enhance academic development and operational academic coordination. Academic Excellence Function in an academic advisory capacity relating to all Netcare Education programmes and academic activities in accordance with legislative requirements, outlined policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of Netcare Education. Compliance Coordinate, direct, and maintain standards of academic practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation. Ensure Netcare group compliance to HPCSA, CHE, DHET and SAQA requirements, with regard to all programmes offered. Ensure compliance with Academic and Legislative requirements at a National level. TRANSFORMATION OF OUR SOCIETY Build and maintain stakeholder relationships Liaise with a complex network of stakeholders to ensure business growth and business unit sustainability. Build strategic inter-departmental relationships to help achieve business goals. Promote sound staff, learner and stakeholder relationships. People management Develop talented educators. Assign decision making, authority, tasks and responsibility to appropriate persons in order to maximize organisation and employee effectiveness in relation to all academic matters. Foster a performance culture by creating an academic framework to direct, develop and motivate the achievement of quality academic outputs, performance behaviours and goals. Ensure the optimal alignment of all academic processes with the organisation's vision and values. Foster trust and create an emotionally intelligent workforce. Facilitate effective change & conflict management in academic related activities. Teamwork Create conditions of willingness and participation amongst teams by providing sufficient, encouragement, information, resources and authority to make the necessary decisions to accomplish tasks. Build capacity to motivate and mobilise, impart strength, vitality and enthusiasm to teams to actualise the organisation's vision of the future. Personal and professional development Active involvement in own and others professional development to promote an environment of academic excellence. Keep up to date with Netcare's evolving policies and procedures. BEST AND SAFEST PATIENT CARE Governance, quality and risk management Ensure that education standards, academic quality assurance, academic related administrative process efficiency and risk management is maintained in Netcare Education. Achieve an expert level of knowledge and understanding of the integrated clinical and corporate governance practices and controls to critically evaluate, implement and maintain compliance with good governance structures and processes to promote the ethics and values of the organisation/ industry. Leading direction to improve existing work processes and conditions for improved quality of outputs. Research activities Lead and direct research in Netcare Education, share expertise to facilitate the discovery of new knowledge and then apply this knowledge to create new and improved products, processes, and services that meet the academic market and healthcare needs. Ensure a global frame of reference and scanning of the external environment for different perspectives and to adopt successful practices. Drive research and scholarly activities and outputs of all campuses with the aim of meeting academic and legislative requirements as well as creating empowered academic professionals. Drive dissemination of research results and recommendations to provide support for evidence-based practice. Applying new knowledge gained from research, to create new and improved products, processes, and services that meet the academic and healthcare market needs. Actively participate in projects, meetings and forums related to the industry. Participate in and ensure the management and production of research in Netcare Education, Netcare and collaboratively with other institutions. WORKING CONDITIONS Professional flexibility in working hours while supporting daily business operations. Will interact with internal and external customers through several different means. Travel to support the functions of the role may be required. Skills profile Education • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)• Formal Education Qualification• Master's degree• Studying towards a doctorate degree (preferred)• AHA and ITLS Advanced Instructor qualified• Assessor, Facilitator and Moderator qualified Work experience • Minimum of 6 years educational experience• Minimum of 4 years operational experience Knowledge • Advanced knowledge of academic and legislative climate pertaining to general and emergency medical care education.• Knowledge of government and private partnerships.• Adult teaching methodologies• Advanced computer literacy• Client relation ability NETCARE VALUES AND BEHAVIOURS Netcare Values At Netcare, our core value is care.
