Job Description
The Medical Receptionist and Administrator plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of a healthcare facility. They serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming environment while managing administrative duties to support clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone
- ️ Schedule appointments and manage calendars for healthcare providers
- Maintain and update patient records with confidentiality and accuracy
- Process billing, payments, and insurance claims
- Handle correspondence, medical reports, and document filing
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient workflow
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Professionalism and empathy in patient interactions
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- or equivalent
- Certificate or Diploma in Medical Reception, Office Administration, or Healthcare Support (offered by institutions like Skills Academy, Bellview Institute, or DALMOR-MED)
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and healthcare procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical software (e.g., SOLUMED is a plus)
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Knowledge of medical aid billing and patient record management
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
