Job Description

The SAP Payroll Specialist manages end-to-end payroll operations, primarily using SAP HCM or SuccessFactors to process salaries, tax, and benefits, often for large, high-volume, or multi-site organizations. The role is responsible for configuring payroll schemas, managing retroactivity, generating tax reports, and ensuring compliance with local legislation.

This role is critical for ensuring efficient payroll processing and compliance in a complex regulatory landscape.

SAP Payroll Configuration
  • Configure, implement, and support SAP Payroll solutions (SAP HCM and/or SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll)
  • Configure and optimize payroll schemas, wage types, time evaluation integration, and payroll posting to Finance
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including testing, reconciliation, and post-payroll activities
  • Support parallel payroll runs, user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and post-go-live activities
  • Prepare functional specifications and collaborate with technical teams for custom developments
  • Engage stakeholders across business and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Participate in SAP transformation projects involving hybrid deployment models (e.g., SAP HCM + EC Payroll)
Support HC Global Services team and Problem Solving
  • Supporting the team with all systems related issues
  • Resolving payroll malfunctions, managing retroactivity, and troubleshooting errors
  • Manage all SAP Payroll upgrades as per annual cycle plan and new notes from SAP
Legislative Compliance Across Countries
  • Ensure alignment with local regulatory requirements across various countries.
Ensure end to end integration
  • Integrate SAP Payroll with Time Management, Personnel Administration, and Finance modules.
Reporting & Compliance
  • Running tax reports (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL), creating DME files for banking, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Qualification and Experience
  • SAP Payroll Certification
  • Minimum of 10 years hands on experience as a SAP Payroll Consultant
  • Expertise in payroll solutions, regulatory compliance and integration with financial and reporting systems
  • Proven success in 3 full-cycle payroll implementations (SAP HCM or EC Payroll, with EC integration advantageous)
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Payroll schemas and wage types
    • Integration with Finance
    • Local payroll compliance requirements
  • Experience with SuccessFactors Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage business stakeholders
  • Experience in working across a broad spectrum of industries - from white collar to unionised environments
