3. Role Description

The Junior Consulting Engineer will support EY's Power & Utilities delivery teams, providing technical oversight and coordination of field-based installation and quality activities. This role supervises Quality Assurance Field Engineers, validates compliance to engineering standards, resolves technical issues, and ensures high-quality execution of large-scale utility deployment programmes.

4. Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and guide teams of Quality Assurance Field Engineers.
  • Review inspection results and validate adherence to technical and utility standards.
  • Support planning, scheduling and route allocation for field operations.
  • Conduct on-site verification of escalated technical issues.
  • Analyse field data to identify trends, defects and improvement opportunities.
  • Support development of quality frameworks and installation standards.
  • Prepare structured engineering reports and progress summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with EY safety and operational protocols.

6. Technical Requirements
  • B.Eng (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent
  • Valid SA Code B driver's licence
  • Own reliable passenger vehicle
  • 6-18 months experience in engineering, utilities or construction environments (advantageous)
  • Comfortable with outdoor work, travel and field supervision
