Job Description

Responsibilities
  • To execute Group and AECI Property Services Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Risk strategy and ensure an ever increasing Safety, Health and Environmental culture exists throughout AECI Property Services - Umbogintwini for employees, customers, visitors, contractors and to a certain degree, to the tenants housed within the Industrial Complex.
  • Provide assurance on safety, health, security and risk compliance such as OHS Act, MHI, National Key Points Act, Firearms Control Act and the Rail Safety Act for AECI Property Services.
  • Develop and implement safety and security operations, policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with all Company and/or government operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain plans to manage significant emergency situations arising from Companies within the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex.
  • Develop effectively SHE and Security risk management and drive continuous improvement towards Zero Harm.
  • Execute Group and Business Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) strategy.
  • Influence business leadership and workforce on EHS matters.
  • Develop plan and conduct EHS risk assessments.
  • Monitor and improve effectiveness of EHS related controls.
  • Provide assurance on SHE workplace and legal compliance.
  • Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis and facilitation of learning.
  • Maintain SHE Management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 3000 Rail Safety).
  • SHE performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Plan and monitor SHE training.
  • Manage SHE team performance and budget.
  • Monitor compliance to legal requirements (National Key Points Act, Disaster Management Act, Major Hazard Installation Regulations and the Rail Safety Act).
  • Tenant audits and inspections.
  • Critical Control verification for site.
  • Contractor management.
  • Standby duty for the UIC as per the roster.
Educational Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12.
  • Diploma/degree in safety management or NQF equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Chemical Operating environment.
  • Must have knowledge of:
    • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
    • Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) Act
    • Major Hazard Installation (MHI) Regulations
    • National Key Points Act
    • Disaster Management Act
    • ISO 45001 SHE Management Systems
    • Emergency Management and Business continuity
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing and SHE performance monitoring.
  • Strong leadership and influence.
  • Risk assessment and risk management.
  • Emergency response planning and coordination.
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis.
