Job Purpose

-The ability to teach in the fields of:

  • Construction Management
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Facility Management
  • Construction Health & Safety

-Contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the department to enhance learning according to the needs of the industry and the department's teaching & learning goals.
-Incorporate teaching & learning, research & innovation, and community engagement outcomes into the academic project.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Master's degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. All base qualifications must be in Construction Management or Building or Quantity Surveying.
  • At least 2 years relevant teaching experience in higher education or 2 years industrial experience in the Built Environment.
  • Registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) or the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) is recommended.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Lecturing on the ECP Diploma levels.
  • Academic administration,
  • Conducting research and postgraduate supervision,
  • Participation in SACPCMP and SACQSP professional body accreditation,
  • Participation in Quality Assurance activities,
  • Participation in Industry Advisory Committees & partnerships,
  • Assisting with Community engagement, WIL and service-learning initiatives,
  • Assisting with recruitment, admissions and marketing.
  • knowledge and understanding of the latest technology and developments in the field of construction management, quantity surveying or facility management
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of continuous evaluation and integrated assessment
