Job Description
Job Purpose: The purpose of this vacancy is to appoint a lecturer on a fixed-term contract in the place of our current CAT lecturer, who will go on study leave from July to December 2026.
Location and Contract: Wellington Campus, Wellington, WC, ZA (Primary). Contract position. Number of Positions: 1. Advert Closing Date: 7/6/2026.
Note: This position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.
Job Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceMinimum requirements: Lecturer
- A relevant Master's or Honours degree in Computer Applications Technology (CAT) (preference for a relevant Master's degree).
- CAT as a major at the undergraduate level.
- A relevant teaching qualification with CAT as a major (preferably at secondary school level).
- At least five years' experience teaching CAT at secondary school level, or at least two years' experience teaching CAT at tertiary level.
- Experience in the preparation, evaluation and moderation of meaningful teaching experiences for FET Phase CAT students.
- Teaching or mentoring experience with pre service teachers.
Recommendations:
- Experience with WIL supervision.
- Experience in setting and moderating CAT examinations and PATs.

- Manage internal and external moderation processes.
- Assess PAT and Teacher Portfolios.
- Provide timely and transparent feedback.
- Support academic and professional development of pre service teachers.
- Monitor progression and readiness for school teaching.
- Offer structured consultation and support.
Compliance & Ethical Practice
- Enforce plagiarism and assessment regulations.
- Model ethical ICT use.
- Apply institutional rules fairly and consistently.
Professional Engagement
- Engage with school-based CAT assessment practices.
- Maintain currency in CAT teaching, assessment and moderation expectations.

- Participate in moderation and review processes.

- Manage LMS records, marks and submissions (Blackboard specifically).
