DNB Technician (2nd Shift)

Position Details

Job Title: Technichian (2nd Shift) SUMMARY This role will be responsible to provide guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to a group of individuals for the purpose of achieving the group’s performance and results. Responsible for monitoring the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports results to the supervisor/management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This is a representative sample -- not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks. • Receives row assignment from supervisor’s/operator’s schedule posted at the time clock. • Check the front and back of the assigned machines to ascertain the nature of any running problems at the beginning of the shift and periodically throughout the shift. • Monitors the operation of the knitting machines for fabric defects not noticed by the scanner. If machine is running a pattern style, will closely inspect to ensure pattern is correct. • Patrols front of machine using a spotlight at least two (2) times a day. • Stops the machine when a defect is noticed. The knitter goes to the machine and determines the reason for the defect. If the defect is due to the yarn problems, the knitter repairs and restarts the machine. The knitter puts the ends in straight from beam to points and from points to guides, making sure that no ends are crossed, doubled, or over the sley wire. If the knitter cannot repair the defect, he or she calls the fixer. After the defect is repaired, the knitter restarts the machine and enters the reason for the machine stop. Standard performance (within a 12-month training period) requires the operator to run at least 18 machines efficiently (2 bars @90% and 3-4 bars @85%). • Records all defects on piece ticket and production report. Correctly documents any other required information on paperwork. • Prepares rolls at doffing, calculates and plots SPC chart. Alerts doffer by signal light. • Contacts fixer for repeat defects or mechanical problems such as: pin holes, broken needles, lines, chatter, etc. • Notes level of yarn on the warps and stops machine fore yarn runs off warp. • Record production racks on production report at the end of each shift. • Follows all safety rules and regulations and foster safe work habits. • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area and performs other tasks as directed. • Performs lock out/tag out as required. • Cleans sley points, guide bars, push rods etc. Remove all dirt and grease using clean rags and or brushes. Apple fresh grease to parts to assure that the machine will run properly. • Points the yarn: cut the leasing tape into equal size patches and position them so that the yarn ends will not contact the beam flanges or machine brackets. Point so there is one end per sley point space with no doubles or crossed ends and limited skips. • Set the EBC unit or PIV box. To set the PIV box, measure the freeboard on each wrap. Disengage the clutch using the pressure release handle set the box. • Thread the guide bar: remove the bar, clean and grease and place in threading positon. Pull yarn ends forward and with the correct gauge threading set, thread the bar. Using the threading hooks and comb to pull yarn through the guide bar. • Replace the guide bar and align. Check yarn path (make sure no ends are dragging). Tighten warps and signal arms. • Knit fabric in. Make bar adjustments as necessary. IRRIGATION AND GROUNDS TECHNICIAN Posting Number: SRGV7877 Number of Vacancies: 1 Location: Edinburg, Texas Department: Campus Facilities Operations FLSA: Non-Exempt Scope of Job: Responsible for assigned aspects of irrigation including repair, trouble shooting, maintenance, programming, pumps and pump stations, wiring, etc., to ensure safe, efficient and effective irrigation systems, as well as general grounds keeping, and other duties as assigned. Description of Duties: • Repairs existing drip and sprinkler systems. • Keeps track of watering schedules, weather and water needs in all landscape situations. • Removes old systems and recovers reusable equipment. • Sets and maintains times on computer and electronic valve clocks; troubleshoots computerized electronic systems, irrigation controllers, solenoid valves, and heads of all types. • Participates in preparing ground for planting and in planting, cultivating, fertilizing, watering and pruning flowers, shrubs and trees. • Watches for pests, disease or other deteriorating agents and takes necessary steps for the eradication. • Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, materials and supplies. • Operates and prepares grounds care equipment. • May instruct others in minor irrigation repairs. • Operates tractors and trenchers to install/repair lines. • May assist in coordination with other departments or outside contractors. • Performs other general grounds keeping and maintenance duties as needed and requested by supervisor. • May perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial lawn mowers, pesticide spray equipment and other landscape machinery used for general maintenance purposes. • May be required to have flexible work schedule, to include but not limited to: work evenings, weekends, Holidays, overtime and any campus emergencies. • Performs other duties as assigned.
