Utilityman General Worker - Medupi Power Station

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, a leading South African power utility, is seeking dedicated and reliable Utilityman General Workers to join the Medupi Power Station team. This role is critical in supporting daily plant operations, ensuring efficient functioning of the station, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The successful candidate will perform a range of general maintenance, labor, and operational support tasks, contributing to Eskoms mission of providing reliable electricity to millions of South Africans.

• Assist skilled artisans and technical staff with routine maintenance and repair work across the plant.
• Perform general labor tasks including cleaning, transporting materials, and maintaining equipment.
• Operate basic tools and equipment safely in accordance with plant procedures.
• Monitor and report any operational or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Support emergency and shutdown activities as required.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
• Assist with material handling, stock management, and inventory control.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 or equivalent qualification is required; further technical training is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or operational systems in an industrial setting is desirable.
• Ability to operate basic hand tools and equipment safely.
• Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various conditions.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and adherence to workplace regulations.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

• Previous experience in a power station, mining, or heavy industrial environment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with general maintenance, labor work, or plant operations will be an advantage.

• Full-time position, typically operating on a shift basis depending on operational requirements.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or public holidays as required by plant schedules.

• Knowledge of safety and health regulations in industrial workplaces.
