Our client, a supplier within the industrial and pneumatic sector in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is looking for a confident and commercially minded External Technical Sales Representative to grow and manage their customer base. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining strong client relationships and offering expert guidance on specialised pneumatic solutions. Your ability to understand customer needs and convert opportunities into sales will directly impact revenue growth.
What You'll Be Doing:- Calling on existing and prospective clients to promote technical product solutions
- Advising customers on suitable pneumatic components and system applications
- Preparing detailed quotations based on client requirements
- Following up on proposals and converting opportunities into confirmed orders
- Identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities within your client base
- Working closely with internal sales and procurement teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
- Maintaining accurate records of client visits, opportunities and sales forecasts
- Providing after-sales support and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
- Meeting agreed sales targets and performance objectives
- Responding promptly to client queries via phone, email and digital platforms
- Proven experience in external or technical sales within an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems and related components
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and recommend appropriate solutions
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Excellent negotiation and closing skills
- Strong relationship-building and client management ability
- High attention to detail when preparing quotations and processing orders
- Proficient in MS Office and sales management systems
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems such as Pastel advantageous
- Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working independently
