Abbotts High School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and future-focusedFET Teacher to join our team and contribute to our culture of academic excellence and student development.
Role PurposeAs a FET Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, organising, and delivering high-quality instructional programmes within the FET phase. You will guide and inspire students to reach their full academic potential while equipping them with the skills needed for life beyond school.
Key Responsibilities Academic Delivery- Deliver engaging, future-focused lessons that inspire and challenge students
- Apply innovative teaching strategies aligned with IEB standards
- Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment
- Design, implement, and evaluate assessments aligned with curriculum standards
- Provide meaningful, timely feedback to students and parents
- Maintain accurate academic records and reporting Student Development
- Manage student behaviour constructively and consistently
- Foster a positive learning culture grounded in respect and accountability
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
- Communicate openly, professionally, and respectfully with all stakeholders
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture
- Complete required administrative tasks efficiently and accurately
- Uphold all school policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards
- Represent Abbotts High School and Advtech with professionalism and integrity
- Actively contribute to maintaining and enhancing the school's reputation
- A relevant degree (NQF Level 7) with PGCE or B.Ed (FET phase), with subject specialisation (IEB preferred)
- Valid SACE registration and police clearance (essential)
- 2-5 years' teaching experience, including FET subject specialisation
- Strong digital literacy and confidence using educational technology
- First Aid certification (advantageous)
- A lifelong learner who continuously reflects on and improves their teaching practice
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Emotional intelligence and professionalism in managing relationships
