Core Description

Responsible to provide specialised support to manage, evaluate and execute purchases and leases of international submarine cable capacity andconnectivity. This includes driving the planning, recording and managing existing and ongoing utilization and revenue generating potential ofInternational Submarine Cable facilities and connectivity. Provide support and alignment to the Global Capacity strategy and provide solutionsto the Wholesale Marketing and Sales groups to ensure optimal benefits for Openserve. Plan and manage international trading (purchasing & selling)contracts of submarine cable capacity & connectivity. Perform the Submarine Cable Network Administrator (NA) functions.

Job Responsibilities

Perform the Submarine Cable Network Administrator function (40%)

  • Commercial records, C&MA contract interpretation and contract policing
  • Establish necessary systems, processes, rules to perform the NA function
  • Ensure evaluation and enhancement of all NA processes and best practices.
  • Support submarine cable WG's on transmission technology, routing, assignment, interface and
  • Establish and manage all aspects of the consortium transmission plans of the submarine cable networks
  • Provide updated conceptual restoration plan annually for consortium approval.
  • Provide optimisation of restoration trails to reduce costs to all operators
  • Perform annual restoration testing exercises for restoration facilities procured
  • Draft, update and maintain all applicable system procedures

Responsible for key business drivers and objectives (40%)

  • Responsible to assist the Global Capacity Manager in executing the overall long-term operational strategy
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders by building and managing internal and external customer relationships
  • Co-ordinate strategic, technical and services improvements initiatives / projects in support of Global Capacity services
  • Responsible for Project management and procurement of submarine cable capacity
  • Perform feasibility studies and technical development - Obtain required information from key role players
  • Manage, evaluate and execute purchases and leases of international submarine cable capacity and connectivity
  • Plan, record and manage the existing and on-going utilization and revenue generating potential of International Submarine Cable facilities andconnectivity
  • Plan, perform, contract and manage international trading (purchasing & selling) of submarine cable capacity & connectivity
  • Implement and contribute to Business Plan & design operational plan for environment
  • Develop presentations on the performance outputs of the Submarine Cable facilities and services.

Certifications Education

NQF 6: National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Certificate

Experience Additional Information

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualification in preferably Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Commerce, Science, Technology, Telecommunications
  • Minimum 5 Years relevant experience in Telecommunications environment of which 3 years in a transmission environment.
  • International SubmarineCable NA specific experience would be advantageous.
