Description

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Sun King is looking for a motivated team member to join our team in driving the adoption of clean energy solutions in South Africa. The incumbent will be facilitating solar installations; from site assessment to system activation, and ensuring compliance with all South African safety regulations and standards.

What you would be expected to do System Installation
  • Assist with electrical installations and related issues related to the grid, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, inverters, monitoring systems by:
    • Digging holes and trenches, planting poles and laying cables in trenches, chasing and cutting walls and concrete floors for conduit, cleaning the working areas.
    • Installing and fixing of flush and surface mounted wireways and ancillary equipment installing cables including the fitting of glands, making off and securing such cables.
    • Assisting with erecting and joining luminaires; assisting with operating a trenching machine when needed, once trained.
  • Work with the engineering team to document electrical system specifications, installation guidelines, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to streamline installation procedures and minimize electrical issues.
  • Disseminate knowledge and expertise with colleagues, installers, and customers to enhance their knowledge of solar electrical systems and promote best practices.
  • Assisting the master installation electrician.
  • Any other business as assigned by your supervisor.
You might be a strong candidate if you
  • Have a Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Have previous experience in technical and electrical troubleshooting, or the solar energy industry; this is highly desirable.
  • Have good knowledge of electrical fundamentals, circuitry, and photovoltaic system component
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Are familiar with solar PV components, including solar panels, inverters, charge controllers, and batteries.
  • Employ a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Have a strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Are able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including sun and heat.
  • Have good communication skills to effectively.
