Our client in the logistics and transport industry is looking to employ a SHE, Training and Risk Officer to join their team based in Camperdown along the N3 corridor.

Purpose of the Role

To ensure safe, compliant, and risk-controlled operations by integrating Safety (SHE), Training, Compliance, and Risk Management into one operational function, proactively identifying and preventing risks across the business.

Requirements:
  • 3-6 years' experience in SHE, Safety, Training, or Risk within a logistics or transport environment
  • Matric
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles
  • Experience in training and staff development
  • Proven ability to monitor and enforce compliance
  • Knowledge of fleet and logistics operations
  • Relevant safety, risk, or training certifications - advantageous
  • Exposure to automotive or vehicle logistics - advantageous
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and influence operational teams
Responsibilities:

SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) Management:

  • Conduct yard, loading, and fleet safety inspections
  • Perform risk assessments across vehicles, routes, and depots
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and damages
  • Ensure PPE compliance and safe loading practices

Training and Development:

  • Train drivers, planners, and operational staff on SOPs and safety
  • Conduct inductions and refresher training
  • Ensure full understanding and adherence to operational procedures

Compliance and Control:

  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, regulations, and standards
  • Monitor driver licences, PDPs, and permits
  • Maintain training records and compliance documentation
  • Ensure audit readiness at all times

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess operational risks across the business
  • Analyse root causes of incidents, damages, and delays
  • Implement corrective and preventative actionsMaintain and manage a risk register
  • Track trends and recurring issues
  • Compile and submit weekly risk reports

Continuous Improvement:

  • Integrate safety, training, and compliance findings
  • Drive operational improvements and risk reduction initiatives

Operational Integration:

  • Work closely with planners, team leaders, and operational staff
  • Support compliance enforcement and process alignment across departments

  • Reduction in vehicle damages and safety incidents
  • 100% compliance with licences, permits, and documentation
  • Training completion and effectiveness
  • Risk identification and mitigation successAudit readiness and compliance scores
Working Hours and Conditions
  • Monday to Friday: 07h00 - 17h00
  • Rotational shifts:
    • 07h00 - 12h00 or 12h00 - 17h00
  • Saturday: 07h00 - 12h00
  • Flexibility required based on operational demands
