CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT SENIOR PROFESSIONAL NURSE GRADE 12 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY DIRECTORATE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DIVISION Key Responsibility Areas:
  • Provides primary medical care services.
  • Plans and executes a health promotion programme in line with the National Health Calendar.
  • Plans and implements an effective wellness management programme within the allocated region.
  • Provides an occupational health and hygiene service and keeps up to date with current trends and standards in light thereof.
  • Oversees the First Aid and Injury on duty management at clinic level.
  • Provides an efficient, effective legally compliant occupational health service to ensure healthy employees.
  • Effectively markets and/or promotes occupational health service to all council employees.
  • Ensures clinical and administrative policies, procedures and processes are adhered to.
  • Continually assesses and evaluates the performance of subordinates.

Essential Requirements:
  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in General Nursing.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse.
  • Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Dispensing Course Certificate.
  • Certificate in Audiometry.
  • Certificate in Spirometry.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 2 years post graduate experience in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Computer Literacy.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in General Nursing.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse.
  • Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Dispensing Course Certificate.
  • Certificate in Audiometry.
  • Certificate in Spirometry.
  • Registration of Occupational Health as an additional qualification with the South African Nursing Council.
  • 3 years post graduate experience in Occupational Health Nursing.
Special Conditions:
  • To be able to travel within the Ethekwini Municipality Boundaries.
  • Posts are interchangeable within occupational health regional clinics.
