Senior Legal Advisor - South Africa (Cape Town)
Job Description
Legal management of all law-related matters in the division, reporting to the Divisional General Counsel.
Job ResponsibilitiesAdvise the cluster on all legal aspects relating to corporate transactions as well as continued research into various aspects of the law and regulatory framework impacting on the legal viability of the transactions.
Identify and liaise with external attorneys to prepare necessary documentation, reviewing these and negotiating with the counterparties.
Draft and review various agreements on behalf of the cluster including shareholder agreements and term sheets.
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (regulators and attorneys) and internal stakeholders (Corporate Finance, Group Tax and other Legal-and Compliance departments).
Manage customer complaints.
Assist with developing the legal function for the cluster.
Advise on the impact of legislation applicable to the relevant business units and their clients.
Draft legal opinions.
General legal advisor responsibilities.
Job RequirementsLLB / Admitted Attorney.
Five years + PQE.
Legal advice relating to corporate transactions.
(Not essential) Financial services experience which includes knowledge of insurance, collective investments, LISP, and the asset management industry would be advantageous.
Willing to relocate to, or must currently be stationed, in Cape Town (South Africa).
