Job Description

Qualifications
  • National Diploma/Degree in HR/Accounting/Payroll Administration
  • At least 5 years' experience in a payroll administration role
  • 2 to 3 years background in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven experience in accounting software (Sage 300)
  • Proficiency in Business English

Key Performance Areas
  • Oversight of all the payrolls for South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia
  • Setting deadlines and objectives for all payroll input and practices
  • Ensuring that payroll system changes and updates are implemented and monitored
  • Responsible / Oversight of the time and attendance system
  • Managing of the Time and Attendance Clerks.
  • Ensuring that the T&A information is accurate, leave applications are correctly accounted for in the T&A System
  • Overtime is correctly applied for, approved and paid accurately
  • Benefits administration for the provident fund and medical benefits
  • Ensuring that all 3rd party information is processed and paid by monthly deadlines
  • Preparation and submission of reconciliations and variance reports
  • Submit statutory returns (PAYE, UIF, SDL, COIDA) accurately and on time.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits.
  • Ad hoc and statutory reporting such as WSP/ATR, Employment Equity, Return on Earnings
  • Preparing and calculating annual salary increase schedules for submission and approval by Senior Management
  • Innovate with new processes and leverage technology to improve the department
  • Manage and maintain payroll systems (e.g. Sage, Pay Space).
  • Implement system upgrades and ensure data integrity.
  • Train and support staff on system usage and troubleshooting
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet month-end deadlines
  • Communicate payroll policies and updates clearly across the organisation
