Job Description
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology invites applications for a part time lecturer to teach Computers in Education at the Wellington Campus. The position covers a maximum of 24 hours per month (2 days per week) at a rate of R290 per hour. Classes will be conducted in Afrikaans from 14:00 to 17:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Job PurposeTo deliver high quality Computer Literacy instruction for Senior and FET Phase students, preparing learning materials, assessing student performance, and mentoring learners.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Computer Literacy in Education for senior and FET students (first through fourth year).
- Design and prepare learning materials.
- Assess, mark, and upload student marks.
- Coach and mentor students.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Maintain sound administrative and technical skills.
- Stay informed about national education policies and CAPS.
- Work effectively in a team and support students.
- Master's or Honours degree in Computer Applications Technology (CAT) with preference for a Master's.
- Bachelor's degree with CAT major.
- Relevant teaching qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching CAT at primary or secondary schools, or 2 years at tertiary level.
- Experience preparing and evaluating meaningful learning experiences for Senior and FET Phase students.
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans (taught in Afrikaans).
- Excellent teaching, administrative, and technical skills.
- Part time contract until 31 December 2026.
- Compensation at R290 per hour.
