Omnia South Africa Seeks General Assistant. Omnia South Africa is extending an invitation to qualified candidates to apply for the role of General Assistant.

The position's closing date is set for December 14, 2023, and it is based in Tshipi, Northern Cape, South Africa.

Omnia is a diverse Group engaged in research, development, and supply of chemicals and specialized solutions across agriculture, mining, and chemicals application industries.

Established in 1953, the Group is listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange, operating within the Chemicals sector.

The role primarily involves assisting in the preparation, execution, and post-detonation tasks related to explosives truck operations.

Responsibilities include aiding the blaster and truck operator in blast block preparation, product collection and delivery, vehicle maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Refilling truck with raw materials under supervision
• Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
• Ensuring personal and site cleanliness as per safety standards
• Hole inspection and measurement
• Securing detonator and charging holes
• Assisting truck operator with various tasks related to blasting operations
• Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Maths
• Entrance Medicals
• Inhouse Training
• Magazine Master Ticket (Desirable)

Experience

• Previous experience in blasting/mining environment
• 2 years of blasting assistant experience

Competencies and Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Strong numerical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Report-writing abilities
