The Group's four business clusters (Sanlam Life and Savings, Sanlam Investment Group, Sanlam Allianz and Santam) house the Group's business operations. The Group Office provides strategic direction and support to the five clusters, assisting them in realising their strategies and meeting their business objectives. The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group's centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial, Risk and Balance Sheet Management, Strategy, Human Capital, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability.
What will you do?This role serves as a strategic driver for skills development governance within the organization, ensuring robust compliance and reporting with the Learning Compliance Landscape and effective oversight of Group Programmes. The incumbent is responsible for setting and maintaining consistent standards across all clusters, working collaboratively to execute learning initiatives that align with organizational goals. Additionally, the position manages key external partnerships with learning providers and institutions, guaranteeing SETA and B BBEE compliance. By supporting and enabling targeted development programmes for all leadership tiers and priority talent groups-including individuals with disabilities, graduates, and critical capability pipelines in areas such as actuarial, data, and AI-the role advances the organization's talent agenda and strengthens critical capability talent pipelines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall accountability for the end to end coordination of Group level blended learning programmes targeting:
- Leadership tiers (e.g. senior, middle, junior management and executive development) AND
- Priority talent categories - people with disabilities, graduates, and critical capability pipelines (actuarial, data, AI, and related fields)
- Line manage and direct the work of a Learning Project Coordinator, who provides operational support across programme coordination activities.
- Consolidate and ensure timely submission of annual Workplace Skills Plan and Annual training Report to relevant Setas from across the Sanlam Group.
- Ensure that typically 20% of Mandatory Grants are recovered across the Group.
- Implement successful implementation and reporting of Pivotal Plans to facilitate funding/approval of Discretionary grants across the Group.
- Lead the design and implementation of Skills Development Framework across the Sanlam Group.
- Align Skills Development legislation and transformation strategy and priorities across the Sanlam Group.
- Track and report on INSETA related funding monthly.
- Ensure levy optimisation across the Sanlam group. Where relevant, ensures the ratio of total training spend to grants recovered, including successful applications for Discretionary Grants for learnerships and bursaries.
- Coordinate, register, and administer INSETA accredited learnerships, skills programmes, and internships.
- Maintain learner portfolios of evidence (POE) and ensure learner registration on the INSETA system.
- Monitor and report on Group progress against B BBEE Skills Development targets.
- Ensure alignment between training spend, programme types, talent categories, and B BBEE measurement criteria.
- Maintain monthly learning dashboards and training reports for submission to the Head: Group Talent & People Development.
- Track and report on training completion rates, learner satisfaction, programme reach, and B BBEE impact across all Group level interventions.
- Relevant Degree in HR, HRD, ODETDP, or Education (NQF Level 7).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an L&D coordination and/or SDF role within a large levy paying organisation.
- Experience managing relationships with higher education institutions (e.g., USB, UCT) or international learning providers.
- Experience with discretionary grant applications and PIVOTAL programmes.
- Financial services / insurance sector experience strongly preferred.
