Somerset College is a leading independent, co-educational day and boarding school offering schooling from Grade 000 to Matric-IEB and Cambridge AS and A-levels. Founded in 1997, Somerset College is a welcoming, stimulating centre of learning situated in the beautiful Cape Winelands.

JUNIOR STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH Contract Period: 1 May 2026 - 30 April 2027

Somerset College is seeking to make use of the services of a hard-working, focused, performance-driven, process-oriented, enthusiastic, creative and experienced Independent Sports Contractor to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate strength and conditioning programmes
  • Support injury prevention and promote overall athlete well-being
  • Work closely with coaches to enhance sports performance
  • Supervise gym sessions and ensure safe training practices
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality and a strong work ethic
  • Be adaptable and willing to contribute to a dynamic school sports environment
Service Schedule

Services are to be rendered in accordance with the College's training programme, typically conducted on weekdays between 09:00 - 18:00 with additional commitments on Fridays and Saturdays as necessitated by matches.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in the strength and conditioning management, ideally within a school or academy setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Hold a valid Police Clearance (not older than 3 month) and comply with child protection policies.
  • Qualification in Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning (or similar).
