What You Will DoAs a learner in the Telecommunication Network Operations programme, you will gain practical exposure to a wide range of technical activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Climbing ladders and towers to safely and efficiently complete various job duties at elevated heights under supervision
- Erecting telecommunication tower components using cables, ropes, pulleys and other equipment
- Installing cables, antennas, microwave dishes and other communications equipment
- Installing pinwheels, structural steel, cable tray, conduits, antenna mounts, antennas, transmission lines and ancillary equipment on communication towers
- Removing, installing, and repairing aerial telecommunication transmission and distribution antenna, equipment, and associated hardware
- Removing, installing, and repairing various types and sizes of telecommunication cables and lines including fibre optic, coaxial and DC power cables
- Performing audits, tests, upgrades and routine maintenance when required
- Performing emergency repairs and restoring services when required
- Assisting the team leader in their duties as required
- Applying health and safety rules at all times in the workplace
To be considered for this Ericsson Learnership, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Matric certificate (National Senior Certificate) is required
- Preference will be given to TVET students with an IT or ICT certification in low voltage, telco, or digital electronics, or students from a university of technology with an ICT or Networking qualification
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English are essential for safety purposes
- A self starter attitude with the desire and ability to learn and retain technical knowledge
- Strong team player skills with excellent interpersonal communication abilities
- Good organisational and administrative skills
