Engineering Lead

Senior deliveryrole requiring strong technical fluency, stakeholder integration capability anddisciplined execution through the build phase. Although titled as anEngineering Lead, the role carries broader responsibility for coordinatingdelivery readiness across business, product, architecture and buildstakeholders. Leads the build phase of technology initiatives by aligningbusiness, product, architecture and engineering stakeholders, ensuringtechnical specifications are delivery-ready, and driving the build team toexecute against agreed scope, quality and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end technical deliverythrough the build phase, ensuring work is sequenced, controlled and aligned toagreed priorities, scope and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate Business Product Owners,Technical Product Owners, the Chief Architect and engineering teams to maintaindelivery clarity, decision-making and momentum.
• Oversee the development, review andreadiness of technical specification documents and supporting build artefactsbefore engineering execution starts.
• Manage delivery risks, issues,assumptions, dependencies and decisions across multiple workstreams andstakeholder groups.
• Provide governance, status reporting andescalation management to support quality delivery, issue resolution and timelydecision-making.
• Act as the practical integration pointbetween technical design intent and build execution, ensuring the build teamhas sufficient clarity to deliver.
• Translate business and product intent intoa coordinated technical execution plan for the build team.
• Ensure technical requirements,specifications, dependencies, interfaces and acceptance criteria aresufficiently defined before build starts.
• Direct and coordinate build activitiesacross development and supporting teams to deliver against scope, timeline andquality expectations.
• Facilitate alignment between architecturedecisions, technical design, backlog priorities and engineering execution.
• Track progress against milestones andintervene where blockers, design gaps, resourcing issues or delivery risksarise.
• Support readiness for testing, release andimplementation by ensuring build outputs are complete, controlled andtraceable.
  

• Bachelor'sdegree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related fieldpreferred
• 10+ years ofexperience working in software development teams
• Agile deliverycertification (e.g. Scrum, or equivalent) - practical application preferredover theory
• Proven trackrecord leading large, multi disciplinary engineering teamsacross complex enterprise programmes
• Strongbackground in modern application architectures, including:
• Cloud nativeand distributed systems
• API firstand microservices architectures
• Event drivenand integration heavy platforms
• Demonstratedleadership across the full software development lifecycle, from design andbuild through to release, HyperCare, and stabilisation
• Experiencecollaborating closely with:
• Strong exposureto DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and production release governance
