Associate Lecturer Economics (Extended Programme) George Campus
Job Description
To orientate and lecture undergraduate extended programme students, provide academic support, handle administrative duties, as well as participate in different engagement initiatives both internally as well as external of the university.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS- Facilitate learning and teaching of Extended Economics modules (ECO10X1/2; ECO1X1/2; and ECC201)
- Academic administration pertaining to the listed modules on the extended programme
- Contribute to curriculum development on the extended programme
- Provide academic support pertaining to the listed modules
- Coordinate the relevant functions pertaining to the marketing of the extended programme.
- Capacity to work with the other departmental heads and members of the School of Economics, Development & Tourism
- A sound knowledge in the theory and application of Economics principles.
- A sound knowledge in the application of Econometrics.
- Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate levels.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to administer modules involving large numbers of students.
- Ability to identify students requiring academic support and to provide the necessary assistance.
The candidate:
- Must be in possession of least at Honours/PGDip in Economics (NQF8) qualification
- Must have at least 1 year experience in lecturing at the undergraduate level, preferably on extended/ foundation programmes
- Preference will be given to candidates who have made progress towards higher degree in Economics as well as started to contribute towards research and supervision
