We looking for a Workshop Manager M/F based :South Africa

To lead and manage CFAO Equipment's Johannesburg workshop operations with full accountability for safety, quality, cost, and delivery. The role of a Workshop Manager exists to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the workshop, which is essential for the assembly new equipment and the maintaining and repairing equipment. This position is crucial for leading a team of technicians, artisans, and support staff, and fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement. The Workshop Manager oversees financial performance, operational excellence, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role is responsible for optimizing resources, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving business growth. By managing all aspects of workshop activities, the Workshop Manager ensures customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial success, contributing significantly to the company's overall strategic goals.

Profil request:
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead a diverse team of technicians, artisans, apprentices, and support staff.
    • Foster a professional and accountable work culture focused on performance, development, and engagement practices.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, disciplinary processes, and team engagement practices.
    • Implement skills development, coaching, and succession plans.
  • Profit and Loss Management
    • Oversee workshop financial performance and ensure adherence to profitability targets.
    • Monitor income, expenses, and labour recovery to improve gross margins.
    • Identify and execute initiatives to drive revenue growth and cost containment.
    • Support the General Manager in monthly financial reviews and strategy alignment.
  • Operational Excellence and Compliance
    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of workshop activities, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and delivery standards.
    • Manage rebuild and repair workflows from job card creation to final delivery and invoicing.
    • Drive adherence to production schedules and operational KPIs using lean and PDCA principles.
    • Ensure compliance with internal processes and external regulations (ISO, OHS).
  • Resource Optimization and Cost Management
    • Optimize labour, equipment, and material usage to enhance workshop efficiency.
    • Review and manage workshop overheads and consumables usage.
    • Identify and implement cost saving measures that do not compromise product quality.
    • Maintain up to date tooling and equipment registers, ensuring calibration and readiness.
  • Quality Control and Assurance
    • Enforce OEM and internal quality standards across all rebuilds, repairs, and PDIs.
    • Ensure first time quality and reduce rework through inspections, audits, and root cause analysis.
    • Investigate customer complaints and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Budgeting and Financial Responsibility
    • Develop and manage the annual workshop budget in collaboration with Finance.
    • Align expenditure with revenue targets and operational goals.
    • Monitor actuals vs. budget monthly and implement corrective actions where needed.
    • Ensure timely GRN processing, accurate job costing, and job closure.
  • WIP Management
    • Track WIP ageing daily and escape issues that may impact month end financial cut offs.
    • Coordinate with finance, parts, and service teams to resolve issues such as parts delays or GRN issues.
    • Proactively monitor aged WIP and take corrective actions to reduce carry over jobs.
