Job Purpose

The purpose of a Business Analyst is providing support to warehousing operations by analysing business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, gathering and documenting functional and technical requirements. The role contributes to enhancing operational efficiency, system adoption, and alignment between business needs and technology capabilities.

Strategic Imperatives

This role is crucial in supporting projects and analysing business processes, gather requirements, and support the implementation of warehousing solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and document business requirements through meetings, interviews, and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Analyse and map current business processes related to warehousing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the creation of detailed functional specifications and use cases.
  • Collect and analyse data related to warehousing operations, including inventory management, order fulfilment, and logistics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and logistics, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Support the implementation of new systems or processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), system validations, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Create clear and concise documentation, including process flows, business requirements, and user guides.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of project progress and changes.
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on progress, risks, and issues.
Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of warehouse functions: receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatching, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of inventory flow, stock movement, and storage principles.
  • Awareness of how WMS platforms function and support warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with system interfaces, transactions, and user roles within a WMS environment.
Technical Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or other relevant software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • People & training skills: Ability to run training sessions, provide hand holding in the operation.
  • Basic understanding of business analysis tools and methodologies, including process mapping, use case creation, and requirement gathering.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and data analysis.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Warehousing experience: Understanding of warehousing operations, including inventory management, order processing, and logistics.
  • Experience working with warehousing management systems (WMS).
  • Exposure to warehousing operations or systems implementation projects is advantageous.
