Urban Designer

Key Responsibilities to include:
  • To represent the practice at project briefing meetings
  • To summarize urban design objectives and goals available from previous plans and studies.
  • Evaluate development proposals to identify compliance with zoning regulations.
  • Prepare design guidelines for open space, building form, project review and site planning
  • Develop massing plans and urban design concepts.
  • Prepare site layouts as well as land subdivision plans for industrial, residential, leisure and mixed-use developments
  • To produce sketch illustrations in Revit depicting client brief accurately
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering industrial, residential, leisure and mixed-use projects
  • Has full involvement in multiple projects
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (2D Presentations)
  • 3D Presentations (Lumion/ Enscape/ Twin Motion)
Minimum Criteria and Requirements of Applicants:
  • Urban Design Masters (MUD)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Urban Designer
  • Membership with UDISA will be advantageous.
  • Great technical ability and design skills
  • Advanced in use of Revit (certification of such preferable)
  • Adobe Suite
  • Lumion/ Twin Motion (preferable)
  • Sketching by hand and modelling in Revit
  • Advanced knowledge and proven track record in urban projects - including planning, submissions and design.
  • Impeccable record keeping processes
  • A high standard of communication
  • A commitment to providing excellent client service through efficiency and the quality in production of work
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environment
  • Sufficiently experienced to resolve problems and to make decisions when required
  • Plans and organises workflow and resources to ensure commitments and deadlines are met
  • Manages individuals in team and actively monitors activities
  • Build working relationships in project team and with clients
  • Sets a positive example and displays visible loyalty to the company
