Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and detail oriented Housekeeping Team Leader for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated hospitality professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for maintaining exceptional housekeeping standards within a five star environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and guiding the housekeeping team to ensure that all guest rooms, public areas, and back of house spaces consistently meet the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising daily housekeeping operations and allocating tasks to room attendants and support staff
- Ensuring all guest rooms, corridors, and public areas meet luxury cleanliness and presentation standards
- Conducting regular inspections and spot checks to maintain quality assurance standards
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, ensuring timely resolution
- Supporting training, onboarding, and development of housekeeping staff
- Providing on the job guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times
- Maintaining accurate records of room status, cleaning schedules, and operational reports
- Assisting with inventory control, stock management, and reporting shortages
- Ensuring efficient use of housekeeping supplies to minimise waste and control costs
- Responding to guest requests and ensuring prompt resolution of housekeeping related issues
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operational flow and guest satisfaction
- Supporting VIP room preparation and special guest requirements
- Assisting with staff scheduling, shift handovers, and daily operational communication
- Maintaining professionalism and upholding hotel standards at all times
- Contributing to continuous improvement through feedback, adaptability, and best practice implementation
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a housekeeping or similar supervisory role within a luxury hotel environment
- Strong understanding of housekeeping operations and five star standards
- Proficiency in hotel management systems advantageous
- Excellent leadership and team coordination skills
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Proactive, hands on, and solutions driven approach
