The Stakeholder Relations & Advocacy Liaison is the connective tissue between the AEC and its diverse constellation of stakeholders, from African governments and regulators to multilateral institutions, member companies, development partners, and civil society.
You will design and execute engagement strategies that amplify the AEC's advocacy agenda, deepen member relationships, and ensure that African voices are heard and represented in continental and global energy discourse.

- Map, maintain, and proactively engage the AEC's stakeholder ecosystem, including government ministries, national oil companies, energy regulators, multilateral institutions, member companies, and development partners.
- Support the development and execution of the AEC's advocacy and government relations strategy across African markets.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers in the public and private energy sectors, facilitating high-level policy dialogue, roundtables, and bilateral engagements.
- Coordinate stakeholder participation in AEC events - including Africa Energy Week, ministerial roundtables, and technical working groups - ensuring meaningful, impactful representation.
- Draft compelling stakeholder communication materials including briefings, position papers, talking points, formal letters, and advocacy submissions on behalf of AEC leadership.
- Design and maintain a robust stakeholder tracking system; report regularly on engagement activities, relationship health, commitments made, and outcomes achieved.
- Manage member relations, supporting onboarding, retention, and satisfaction of AEC corporate and individual members; act as a first point of contact for member queries.
- Represent the AEC at industry events, intergovernmental forums, and bilateral meetings across the continent and internationally.
- Coordinate cross functional advocacy campaigns that connect AEC research output to targeted, strategic stakeholder outreach.
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, public policy, business, communications, or a related field
- 4-5 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations, advocacy, or partnerships - ideally in the energy, extractives, or development sector
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted, productive relationships at senior levels in both the public and private sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to produce polished, persuasive materials for senior audiences
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholder workstreams simultaneously with precision
- Solid understanding of African political economy and the dynamics of the continental energy sector
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, public policy, business, communications, or a related field
- 4-5 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations, advocacy, or partnerships - ideally in the energy, extractives, or development sector
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted, productive relationships at senior levels in both the public and private sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to produce polished, persuasive materials for senior audiences
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholder workstreams simultaneously with precision
- Solid understanding of African political economy and the dynamics of the continental energy sector
- Experience in oil & gas, renewables, LNG, or energy finance
- Working knowledge of French or any other language
- Experience with CRM or stakeholder management platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
