We are currently looking for a Staff Nurse to provide professional nursing care and support to patients receiving psychological or psychiatric treatment.

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • 2-3 years nursing experience, preferably in mental health, psychiatric care, or counselling environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Compassion and patience when dealing with patients experiencing psychological distress.
  • Crisis management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients attending the psychology clinic.
  • Monitor and record patients' physical and mental health status.
  • Assist in the assessment and observation of patients with psychological or psychiatric conditions.
  • Support patients during therapy sessions where required.
  • Provide emotional support and counselling guidance to patients and families.
Clinical Support
  • Assist psychologists and psychiatrists during consultations and treatment procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with medical instructions.
  • Observe and report patient behavioural changes to the healthcare team.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and management of patients experiencing distress or mental health emergencies.
Administration & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and nursing notes.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with clinic coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, clinic policies, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation of medication administration and treatment plans.
Health & Safety
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures.
  • Identify and report potential risks related to patient safety or clinic operations.
