Job description: We're looking for an experienced and hands on Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Jockey Inn, a well loved countryside pub and restaurant serving freshly prepared, quality food in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in the day to day running of the kitchen, helping to lead the team, maintain high standards, and ensure every dish leaving the pass reflects the quality we're known for.

The Role
  • Supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and service
  • Leading and supervising the kitchen team, including training and mentoring junior chef
  • Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard
  • Ensuring food quality, presentation, and portion control meet our standards
  • Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and health & safety practices
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
  • Working closely with front of house to ensure smooth, well timed service
  • Taking charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a supervisory kitchen role
  • Strong cooking skills and a solid background in fresh food preparation
  • Confident leadership skills with a supportive, team focused approach
  • Good working knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance
  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification (essential)
  • Well organised, reliable and calm under pressure
