Description

Location: Limpopo, South Africa

About the Role: Sun King is looking for a qualified and motivated Solar Installation Technician to join our team in driving the adoption of clean energy solutions in South Africa. You will be accountable for the solar installations; from site assessment to system activation, and ensuring compliance with all South African safety regulations and standards

What you would be expected to do System Installations
  • Participate in site assessments to assess suitability for solar panel installation
  • Assist with designing and planning solar system installations based on customer needs and roof specifications.
  • Install racking, solar panels, electrical components, and wiring, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • Perform electrical wiring and grounding according to code requirements.
  • Test and validate the installation and verify performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on solar systems and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all installation and maintenance activities.
  • Work effectively with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow the SANS standards for Installations.
  • Any other business as assigned by your supervisor.
You might be a strong candidate if you
  • Have a minimum of National Certificate in Electrical Trades (N3) or equivalent qualification.
  • Have a minimum of One Phase Wiremen's License (this is a compulsory requirement)
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in solar panel installation or a related field.
  • Have knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and their components.
  • Have a working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, SANS Wiring Code (SANS 10142-1), and South African safety regulations (NRF, SANS IEC 60038).
  • Are able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Have experience working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Are in excellent physical condition with the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Have a valid South African driver's license.

  • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate Engineering Technician (CET)
  • Have experience with different types of roofing materials.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
