The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is inviting applications for eight (8) SHEQ Internship positions as part of its 24-month structured internship programme. This opportunity is ideal for graduates who want practical experience in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) within a professional scientific and regulatory environment.

  • Duration: 24 Months (Fixed-Term Contract)

  • Locations: Pretoria, Bellville, Polokwane, Gqeberha, and Pietermaritzburg
Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will receive hands on training and exposure in the following areas:

  • Assisting with the implementation of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) systems
  • Supporting workplace safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Monitoring compliance with health and safety standards, including PPE usage
  • Assisting with SHEQ documentation, reporting, and record keeping
  • Providing administrative support to the SHEQ unit
  • Participating in training sessions, workshops, and continuous development initiatives

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • A relevant Degree will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
