Senior Regulatory Specialist, Southern Africa The Senior Regulatory Specialist is a critical role, responsible for driving and delivering regulatory strategies, submissions, and approvals for FMC's crop protection portfolio across Southern Africa. Based in South Africa, this role ensures timely product registrations, compliant labelling, and robust stewardship to enable sustainable market access and regulatory compliance.The position works closely with internal development, regulatory, and commercial teams, as well as external distributors, regulatory authorities, and industry bodies. It carries significant responsibility and operates in a high pressure, delivery focused environment, requiring strong regulatory expertise, sound judgement, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Location: Centurion , South Africa Main Responsibilities Develop and execute country specific regulatory strategies across Southern Africa, with primary focus on South Africa. Lead dossier preparation and submissions, including chemistry, toxicology, ecotoxicology, and residue data. Manage registrations, renewals, amendments, and label extensions across countries including Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, and Mauritius. Build and maintain multi year registration roadmaps aligned with commercial priorities and launch timelines. Identify regulatory risks, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance of labels, SDS, GHS classifications, and packaging in line with local and global requirements. Engage with regulatory authorities, distributors, farmers, and industry associations, including participation in CropLife and related meetings. Provide guidance and regulatory oversight to supporting team members and external partners, including distributor training where required. Mandatory Requirements Master's degree or higher (PhD preferred) in Agronomy, Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 5 years' regulatory experience within the crop protection industry. 7-10+ years strongly preferred. Proven experience working with South African regulatory frameworks, including Act No. 36 of 1947. SADC experience is an advantage. Strong understanding of GLP, GEP, OECD/FAO/WHO guidelines, GHS, MRLs, and global regulatory harmonisation principles. Practical experience preparing and managing regulatory dossiers and working with CROs across multiple countries. Solid understanding of farming systems, agronomy, and agricultural terminology. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work calmly and effectively under sustained pressure. Willingness and flexibility to travel within Southern Africa, including overnight stays, and to represent FMC at external meetings and workshops.FMC is an equal opportunity employer.
