The Senior Product Owner is a senior member of the agile team responsible for defining user stories, prioritizing the team backlog, and driving program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of complex features. Owns high-complexity products and works closely with product management to deliver the product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
Key Responsibilities- Provide input into program backlog refinement and keep stakeholders informed of PI objective progress.
- Continuously refine and sequence the product backlog: write user stories with clear acceptance criteria, prioritise for main stakeholders, ensure backlog readiness for the next iteration, and involve the team in refinement.
- Give the agile team clear, visible direction on priorities using economic decision making.
- Participate in team events (iteration planning & demo) and all relevant ART level Scrum ceremonies (ART sync, PI Planning, Sprint events, daily stand ups, system demos).
- Create release plans and track progress toward product releases.
- Drive mobile digital omnichannel customer engagement based on customer preference and strategies.
- Ensure a consistent, delightful customer experience across all digital touchpoints of the customer journey.
- Provide strategic input on customer experience improvements to drive acquisition, retention, and conversion.
- Actively promote customer first product design and serve as subject matter expert.
- Engage senior stakeholders on customer centric best practices.
- Coach and support junior and mid level Product Owners in their development.
- Degree in Business, IT, Engineering, Marketing or relevant field (essential).
- +6 years' experience in a Lead or Senior Product Owner role in an agile team with proven success launching complex product features (essential).
- Extensive experience collaborating across multi disciplinary teams (essential).
- Strong experience with analytics, big data, digital led business development, and customer loyalty (essential).
- Knowledge of legal compliance (POPIA, Electronic Information Act, etc.) (essential).
- Banking experience and new banking product experience (desired).
