Job Description

Senior Industrial Designer Who Designs Products People Can't Sleep Without

TL;DR (because attention spans are real):

We're looking for a Senior Industrial Designer who doesn't separate thinking from making. You'll be hands-on across the full design process from researching, sketching, CAD, prototyping, to refining - always with one eye on the user and the other on what's actually buildable.

Native-level English fluency is required for seamless collaboration across our global team.

Conversational proficiency in Asian specific languages is a plus.

Time zone: Full-time within Asia, Europe or South Africa (GMT0 - GMT+8)
Salary: Negotiable
Trial Period: All candidates will complete a paid trial assignment - more details below.

WHO WE ACTUALLY NEED (and who we don't)
  • It's not for freelancers moonlighting or wanting a side hustle.
  • It's not for someone who enjoys being busy more than being effective.
  • It's not for someone who over-indexes on strategy and avoids hands-on execution.

This is however for someone who:

  • 5+ years of experience as an Industrial or Product Designer, with a proven track record of taking physical products from napkin sketch to mass production.
  • Experience working as a Product Designer/Industrial Designer in a fast-growing e-commerce company generating $30M-$50M+ in revenue.
  • Experience designing soft goods, hard goods, home or textile products.
  • Thrives as an individual contributor and is energized by hands-on execution.
  • Ideally has experience specifically in wearable products that have been delivered to market.
  • Has deep understanding of CMF and DFM, specifically regarding textiles, ergonomics, and assembly.
  • Has a strong aesthetic sense and refined design taste, with the ability to create products that feel cohesive, premium, and emotionally compelling while staying true to the brand.
  • Is proactive, autonomous, and doesn't wait to be told what to do.
  • Wants real ownership and responsibility (not just a job title).
  • Cares deeply about building something meaningful and helping people sleep better.
  • Speaks fluent English (native-level preferred).
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Has a high level of experience with 3D design tools including Keyshot, Rhino, Solidworks, Fusion, or similar.
  • Has a high level of experience with 2D design tools Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Has a high level of experience with prototyping techniques including 3D printing and creating physical mock-ups and believes in the process of making physical objects to test and learn about the design.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Be directly involved in design processes, from concept to launch, ensuring a balance of vision and execution.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, hands-on design process.
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners, marketing, and leadership to bring products to market successfully, ensure design intent is maintained from prototype to mass production.
  • Create the CAD and Techpacks for any project that you are the designer on.
  • Driving projects forward with clear communication, by presenting clear, evidence-based design paths and maintaining full transparency throughout the iterative process.
  • Iterate on product design based on user feedback, data, and market trends.
  • Stay updated on design trends, customer preferences, and industry innovations.
  • Creating the CMF of a product and having an understanding of different fabrics or material finishes effect on a product design.
  • Be able to do both quantitative and qualitative research tasks including interviews with users to understand the core problems to solve.
  • Use data-driven insights to enhance product design and user experience.
WHAT YOU GET
  • Bonus Program - Paid quarterly to the entire team when we hit our objectives
  • Fully remote with async flexibility
  • Unlimited vacation and sick leave days
  • Paid courses, coaching, and personal growth budget to help you level up
  • We trust you to own your work and drive results
HOW WE HIRE

We believe in being clear and respectful of your time. Here's exactly what to expect:

  1. Portfolio Review: Portfolios are reviewed by the hiring team. Shortlisted candidates are invited to interview.
  2. HR Screening Interview: This is a 30 - 45 minute interview to determine initial culture and role fit.
  3. Technical Interview: A deeper conversation with a senior member of the leadership team. Candidates complete the DISC assessment before this interview.
  4. Paid Trial Assignment: a realistic technical task (est. 10 hours to complete over a few days) that reflects the kind of work you'd actually do here. Whether you pass the trial or not - we will pay you for your time.
  5. Final Interview: Conducted by our Head of Product and People Operations Manager to discuss the trial, and wrap up the interview process.
  6. References and Final Assessment: Our team will conduct 2 - 3 references calls and request that you complete a Kolbe A psychometric assessment.
  7. Offer + onboarding: if it's a match, we move quickly.

If we've interviewed you, we won't ghost you.

We have curated our interview process to ensure both Manta Sleep and you can assess whether this will be a good match!

WHAT WE BELIEVE (AKA: THE STUFF THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS)

We're not just building a company. We're building a culture where great people can do their best work, without the corporate nonsense.

Here are the beliefs that drive everything we do:

  • Office politics are destructive, small-minded, and evil.
  • We foster cooperation, not competition.
  • We believe in open, transparent communication.
  • We show appreciation and gratitude, every day.
  • The best ideas win, not the loudest person in the room.

If that makes you nod your head (or say "finally!"), you'll fit right in.
