Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an experienced HR Manager on behalf of our client, based in Johannesburg.
This opportunity is ideal for an HR professional who has worked within a vehicle manufacturing head office environment and brings solid exposure to the automotive industry.
Role PurposeTo lead, manage, and continuously develop all aspects of Human Resources and Talent Management across the organisation. The role is responsible for ensuring HR strategy, systems, and practices support business objectives, legal compliance, and a high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities- Human Resources & Talent Management
- Oversee and manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Lead recruitment and selection strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Drive learning and development initiatives aligned to organisational and employee needs.
- Develop and implement talent management and succession planning frameworks.
- Manage and develop the HR Department, including coaching and performance management of HR staff.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with legislation and best practice.
- Provide strategic HR advice and support to executive management.
- Manage compensation and benefits positioning to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Participate in remuneration benchmarking and review processes.
- Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances, and performance issues.
- Lead and represent the organisation in CCMA matters, labour disputes, and litigation.
- Manage relationships with trade unions and ensure compliance with collective agreements.
- Oversee retrenchments and organisational restructuring processes when required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and present HR reports and submissions using MS Office.
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure effective use of HR Information Systems (HRIS).
Proven track record as a Senior HR Generalist.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar senior HR role.
Demonstrated experience in:
- CCMA proceedings
- Industrial relations and union engagement
- Disciplinary processes and grievances
- Retrenchments and labour litigation
- B Degree or National Diploma in Labour Law and/or Human Resources.

- MIBCO
- MIBFA
- CCMA processes
- SARS requirements
- Advanced report writing skills using MS Office.
- Experience working with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent labour law and industrial relations expertise

- Strategic thinking with strong operational execution
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
