The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the job as summarised below, but not limited to:

  • Develop wiring diagrams in Smart Plant Instrumentation, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Design of field Instrumentation, including the layout of control panels, marshalling racks, equipment racks, junction boxes, PLC cabinets, DCS systems, Instrument location drawings, hook up drawings, cable block diagrams.
  • Develop bills of material for the complete installation of the control and instrumentation scope.
  • Development of instrument specifications and data sheets.
  • Procurement of field instrumentation.
  • On site investigations and red lining of existing facilities.
  • Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure alignment across all disciplines to finalise the instrumentation design.
  • Adhere to the project schedule and implement the control system design to complete a project within the allocated budget.
  • Liaise with clients and vendors to ensure alignment.
  • Review designs of other team members.
  • Factory acceptance testing of instrumentation.
  • Commissioning assistance.

The candidate must be in possession of a national technical diploma, a national trade test for instrument mechanicians or minimum of 10 years' experience in an Instrument petrochemical design environment.

Design experience. Computer packages, 'Intools' (Instrument design package), Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access).
