Internship Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic TVET College Students seeking Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities to serve as Interns supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of the SCDR-3 Neftaly Development Competitions across more than 20 competition streams.

This internship is not just about observing-you'll be actively leading, creating, engaging, and delivering experiences that shape the future of innovation, creativity, and social development in South Africa.

What You Will Be Involved In

As a Neftaly WIL Intern, you'll rotate or be assigned to one or more competition categories. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Project Support & Coordination
  • Assist in planning monthly activities: submissions, judging panels, pitch sessions, exhibitions, and awards.

  • Coordinate with teams, mentors, judges, and stakeholders.

  • Manage logistics such as schedules, registrations, venues, and virtual meetings.

Competitions & Creative Execution
  • Support implementation of:

    • Entrepreneurship Challenges

    • Hackathons and Engineering Competitions

    • Writing, Journalism, Public Speaking

    • Art, Dance, Music, and Fashion Shows

    • Environmental, Technology, and Science Projects

    • Debates, App Development & Photography

  • Assist with presentations, rehearsals, technical setup, and public voting platforms.

Mentorship & Learning Facilitation
  • Organise mentorship sessions, coaching calls, and knowledge-sharing events.

  • Support participants with business planning, research, and presentation skills.

Digital Media & Communications
  • Create digital content for competitions (videos, posters, newsletters).

  • Support social media campaigns, public engagement, and content uploads.

  • Facilitate community interaction through online platforms and forums.

Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track participant progress, submit weekly updates, and contribute to post-event reports.

  • Participate in regular feedback, performance reviews, and team reflections.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be currently enrolled at a TVET College, requiring WIL placement.

  • Aged 18-35 years, with a background in one or more of the following fields:

    • Business Management, Project Management

    • Marketing, Public Relations, Media

    • Science, Technology, Engineering, ICT

    • Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Fashion, Culinary

    • Sports, Health, or Education

  • Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse, and dynamic environment.

  • Basic tech skills (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom/Teams).

  • Passion for development, creativity, and problem-solving.

Additional Advantageous Skills
  • Video editing or graphic design (Canva, CapCut, Adobe, etc.)

  • Social media management experience

  • Public speaking or facilitation skills

  • Volunteer or leadership experience
