REPORT TO: Head of Quality
The Quality Controller Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating all quality control and inspection activities to ensure that products, processes, and the cleanroom environment consistently meet standard requirements. This role provides clear technical guidance, drives compliance, and proactively identifies and resolves quality risks that may impact production or product integrity. The incumbent will support production plans, manage and mentor the inspection team, and ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and adherence to health and safety standards, while fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
KEY TASKS Primary role: Quality Controller Team Leader- Responsible for ensuring that the cleanroom always complies with NSS internal cleanliness standards
- Responsible for providing clear and precise guidance to address any deficiencies in materials, parts, consumables and processes in accordance with IPC and/or ECSS standards, ensuring no ambiguity or confusion in implementation.
- Responsible for addressing any non conforming materials, parts, or consumables and reporting this to the QA Manager.
- Responsible for supporting the production plan for all inspections.
- Ensure team actively logs and completes tasks in MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management).
- Responsible for work coordination and allocation of the inspection staff to ensure quality standard requirements are met.
- Ensure that all work standards used are current, and all steps are followed and adhered to.
- Responsible for identifying issues and potential line stops that may impact the quality of the assembly or product and report this to the QA Manager.
- Report and escalation findings to the next level.
- Ensure good time keeping at all times. Address time keeping problems and escape to QA Manager. Team must be on time and deliver on time.
- Responsible for the adherence to the health and safety rules and regulations.
- Responsible for in process and final inspection of sub assemblies and integrated assemblies including all related build documentation.
- Responsible for inspection on outgoing deliveries (to sub contractors and clients), ensuring that product is in line with technical and client requirements.
- Responsible for verification of machine set ups on the SMT assembly line prior to the start of a run.
- Responsible for inspection and analysis of first article inspections and first products from a run on the SMT assembly line.
- Responsible for in process and final inspection of sub assemblies and integrated assemblies on the SMT assembly line including all related build documentation.
- Responsible for the programming of the Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine.
- Assist the Quality, Engineering, Production and Industrialization teams with investigations of failures, where required.
- Assist with the calibration and maintenance of equipment (internal and sub contracted) in a timely manner in adherence to the schedule, where required.
- Responsible for keeping accurate documentation (inspection checklists, build histories, batch control, photos, etc.).
- Logging of PORs on Syspro.
- Overtime might be required from time to time.
