Quality Assurance Manager

Fruitways is a leading agri business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

We have an exciting career opportunity for a QA Manager. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about Fruit Quality and who enjoys working in a fast paced production environment. The position is based at our Packing Facility in Grabouw and reports to the General Manager: Technical Services. The main purpose of the role is to ensure that fruit quality standards are maintained throughout the cold storage and packaging value chain.

• Manage and oversee efficient execution of fruit handling protocols and quality systems.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on the seasonal product plan to ensure that the correct fruit is selected for relevant storage, packing and marketing windows.
• Manage quality assurance of the final product.
• Lead and develop the quality assurance team.
• Continuously improve and maintain handling protocols that will allow fruit quality to be preserved through the storage and packing process.
• Maintain the quality management system that will ensure compliance to food safety systems (e.g. BRC, HACCP).

• A Diploma or Degree in Horticulture
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience with Fruit Quality.
• Strong attention to detail
• Analytical decision making style
• Experience in leading and managing a team
