Program Coordinator - Speech and Hearing Services

The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking a Program Coordinator to support and lead Speech, Language, and Hearing Services. The ideal candidate is a certified Speech Language Pathologist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing with demonstrated leadership, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to student centered practices.

Responsibilities
  • Supervising staff providing direct and indirect speech language and hearing services in compliance with all applicable laws and standards
  • Supporting recruitment efforts, including identifying staffing needs
  • Coordinating onboarding, orientation, mentoring, and supervision of new and probationary staff
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of professional development for department staff
  • Overseeing instructional technology initiatives, including planning, implementation, assessment, and district support for assistive technology
  • Representing Nassau BOCES at professional meetings, advisory councils, and committees, as assigned
Requirements
  • New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)
  • NYSED Certification: Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Speech and Language Disabilities or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence: American Speech Language Hearing Association is preferred
  • Experience working with students with special needs is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office
