Job Description

1. Purpose of the Role

The School Principal is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the school. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality education in compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and regulations, while promoting the school's vision, mission, and values.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Strategic Leadership and School Management

  • Provide visionary leadership to drive school improvement and academic excellence.
  • Develop and implement the school's strategic and operational plans.
  • Promote and uphold the school's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Report directly to the Board of Directors and implement delegated responsibilities.
2.2 Academic Leadership
  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum and educational programmes.
  • Monitor and evaluate learner performance and academic standards.
  • Develop and implement an annual Academic Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure effective assessment practices and compliance with education standards.
  • Prepare and submit academic performance reports to the HOD and Board.
2.3 Staff and Human Resource Management
  • Lead, manage, and support all teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Ensure equitable workload distribution and effective staff utilisation.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Facilitate professional development and training programmes.
  • Mentor and support new and developing educators.
  • Manage staff discipline in collaboration with the HOD.
2.4 Financial and Administrative Management
  • Oversee the financial management of the school, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of financial accounts and school records.
  • Manage school admissions, timetabling, and learner placement.
  • Ensure safekeeping of all official documentation and records.
  • Handle official correspondence and communication effectively.
2.5 Operations and Compliance
  • Ensure effective day-to-day operations of the school.
  • Conduct regular inspections of school facilities and resources.
  • Promote discipline and a safe, orderly learning environment.
  • Ensure proper use of school infrastructure and learning materials.
  • Manage and oversee the use of educational technology platforms (e.g., ITSI).
2.6 Teaching and Learning
  • Engage in classroom teaching as required by the school's needs.
  • Assess, monitor, and record learner progress.
  • Support and enhance teaching quality across all subjects.
2.7 Extra- and Co-Curricular Activities
  • Promote and oversee sports, cultural, and educational activities.
  • Encourage learner participation in extra- and co-curricular programmes.
  • Support the planning and execution of major school events.
  • Serve on recruitment, promotion, and advisory committees.
2.8 Stakeholder Engagement and Governance
  • Maintain effective relationships with the Board of Directors, HOD, parents, and the wider community.
  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings.
  • Submit quarterly management and academic performance reports.
  • Communicate policy updates and legislative changes to stakeholders.
  • Represent the school in official and community engagements.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
  • Degree + PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
