As a Phaco Development Specialist , you will play a vital role in training and supporting ophthalmic surgeons and hospital staff as they transition from Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) and Extracapsular Cataract Extraction (ECCE) to Phacoemulsification (Phaco) as the preferred cataract treatment.A typical day in this role will include: Surgeon Development & Training: Support the successful transition of cataract surgeons from ECCE/MSICS to Phaco surgery. Provide Operating Room, Clinic, Hospital and Wet Lab training to enhance surgical skills, improve outcomes and ensure proper technique adoption. Assist in identifying and selecting candidates for the Phaco Development Program through structured self-assessments Surgical & Technical Support: Serve as a trusted clinical and technical consultant for surgeons and hospital staff, ensuring the correct application of Alcon's ophthalmic devices and technologies. Collaborate with external consultants, course instructors, and proctors to drive effective skill development and high-quality surgical outcomes. Demonstrate product and procedural excellence in OR, hospital, and wet lab settings. Program & Event Support: Assist in delivering Alcon Phaco Development Program courses, professional congresses, symposiums, and special events. Support education initiatives to enhance understanding of cataract surgery options. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to corporate compliance guidelines and reporting procedures. Maintain thorough documentation, including pre-course assessments, surgical observations, and post-course performance tracking. Handle adverse event and product complaint reporting at a local level, ensuring timely escalation to the Local Vigilance Representative.
