Job Description

Primary Function:

Position requires a dynamic and experienced Enterprise Sales Executive to drive and execute commercial growth in South Africa and African regions through direct engagement. The ideal candidate will have proven business development & sales experience, understand the local markets and infrastructure environments, and be comfortable developing customer relationships within the territory.

Commercial Development & Sales Enablement
  • Identify, build, and manage sales opportunities for the company's product and solution portfolio in the territory
  • Engage with major end users (e.g., telcos, banks, ISPs, government agencies) directly to drive sales pipelines and conversion.
  • Travel within territory to build local relationships, attend customer meetings, host events, and represent the company at key industry gatherings and trade shows.
  • Maintain a CRM opportunities list and the status of these, directly and indirectly.
  • Drive business acquisition, identify and pursue new sales opportunities
  • Initiate relationship building to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
  • Experienced in solution selling to articulate the value proposition of data center solutions to customers.
  • Accurately forecast sales performance and pipeline activity.
  • Embrace collaboration to work with internal teams (e.g., sales, engineering, operations, customer success) to deliver customer solutions.
Strategic Planning & Execution
  • Develop market segment strategies, drive sales and business development.
  • Support industry marketing activities including events, product launches, and roadshows.
  • Engage and manage enterprise customers for retention, growth and commercial relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to changing customer needs, market trends, and industry developments.
  • Flexibility in approach and willingness to pivot when necessary.
Solution Selling
  • Ability to understand customer needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Strong presentation and demonstration skills.
  • Ability to articulate the value proposition of data center solutions.
Technical & Customer Support Alignment
  • Interface with group and internal technical teams to coordinate support on proposals, product clarifications, and after sales service.
  • Ensure the customer receives accurate, responsive support through the company's teams.
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure (power, cooling, networking).
  • Familiarity with colocation, hosting, and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of interconnection and network solutions.
Inherent Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 8+ years of business development or sales experience in Africa.
  • Direct exposure to data centre services & solutions (cloud, networking, connectivity & AI).
  • Certifications: Data centre certifications (e.g., DCIM, CDCP) or sales certifications (e.g., SPIN Selling).
  • Technical Certifications: CompTIA, Cisco, or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI).
  • Prior sales or project involvement with telco, banking, or public sector clients and data centre solutions.
  • Fluent in English; or an African language is a major advantage.
  • Valid passport and readiness for international travel.
Required Knowledge
  • Data Center Fundamentals: Understanding of data center design, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Colocation and Hosting: Knowledge of colocation and hosting services, including cabinet, cage, and suite solutions.
  • Cloud and Managed Services: Familiarity with cloud computing, managed services, and IT infrastructure solutions.
  • Networking and Connectivity: Understanding of networking protocols, carriers, and connectivity options.
  • Sales Tools: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., ZOHO) and sales analytics tools.
  • Industry Trends: Awareness of industry trends, market developments, and competitor activity.
  • Customer Needs: Ability to understand customer requirements and tailor solutions to meet their needs.
Candidate Profile
  • Industry Experience: 8+ years of sales and or business development experience in the data center, IT infrastructure, or telecommunications industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of data center infrastructure, colocation, hosting, and cloud services.
  • Sales Skills: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, with strong relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to customers.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for growth through understanding of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
  • Customer Focus: Focus on delivering customer satisfaction and long term relationships.
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities effectively with strong organizational and time management skills.
